Ellicottville BOCES seniors spend a week at Emerling Ford

Emerling Service Manager John Rotino, Vice President Evan Emerling, Donald Koch of Pioneer, Zephran Pennington of Randolph and Shop Foreman Mike “Sparky” Laudisio.

SPRINGVILLE – Donald Koch and Zephran Pennington competed in the Niagara Frontier Dealership Association Trouble Shooting competition Jan. 13, bringing home third place honors. The annual competition tests the skills and knowledge of seniors in the Ellicottville Career and Technical Center BOCES automotive technology program.

Emerling Ford collaborated with the program, inviting Koch and Pennington to the dealership for a week along with their Class A automotive technician Mike Laudisio. At the competition, a 2018 Ford Escape was bugged with several mechanical and electronic problems and the students had to find and fix them within an allotted time.

They found the experience rewarding and the knowledge gained from the Ford technicians invaluable. Both seniors received numerous compliments from the judges for their impressive skills and knowledge.

Emerling Ford continues to support in partnering with the automotive technology program at the Ellicottville CTE Center. Their efforts benefit the students, the community and the automotive industry.
