SPRINGVILLE — For victims of domestic violence, there is now a local place to turn, thanks to the Erie County Sheriff’s Department. Lisa Vidal, a domestic violence advocate with the department, has begun setting up shop at the Springville Village Court. every Tuesday, 9 a.m.- 3p.m.
Vidal is at the district attorney’s office outside the courtroom during those hours, every week, and said she can provide not only privacy from the rest of the building, but also confidentiality, in her role as an advocate. Vidal will also be available during court dates, for support.
“I also have the flexibility to come out at short notice,” Vidal noted. “So if you’re in a situation, and it’s a Monday morning, don’t wait until Tuesday. Call me.”
The domestic violence advocate takes walk-ins during her Tuesday hours, and can be reached at 667-5240, throughout the week. Victims of domestic violence who need immediate assistance can also reach Erie County Crisis Services at 834-3131, 24 hours per day, seven days per week, or call 911 for emergency help. Springville Village Court is located upstairs at 65 Franklin St. in Springville.
