Dairy/agricultural festival winners

SPRINGVILLE — The 25th annual WNY Dairy/Agricultural Festival was held in Springville May 31 – June 2. Competitions were held, throughout the weekend. The results and winners are listed, below.

On May 23 and 24, students in art classes at Springville high, middle and elementary schools painted artwork that was hung in downtown store windows.

Paintings hung at Witter-Davis, the Springville Journal and Julie’s Pizzeria won the overall contest.

WE ALL SCREAM — An ice cream-eating contest at the Springville Trading Post kept attendees busy.
Student winners at Springville Middle School included Ryan Ucci, Brandon Taylor, Kierstin Komenda, Anaclaire Cordaro, Kyle Albrecht, Jakob Tatko, Eliza Peterson, Andrew Delasandro, Jennifer Anstett, Joseph Lupica, Maddylee Lux and Genny Kraft.

Winners from the Springville Elementary School were Nathan Cudney, Ava Dziak, Jaime Dickinson, Daniel Komenda, Zach Hughey, William Guilmain and Shawna Wright.

A pizza-eating contest, sponsored by Main Street Pizza, was held June 1, in front of the Springville Post Office. The winner in the 8- – 11-year-old category was Emanuel Hayes. The winner of the 12- –15-year-old group was Kayla Myers. Steve Bohan won first place, in the ages 16 and older category.

Dawn Pijanowski of North Collins won the photo contest’s farm category.

Vivian Mosher of Freedom won the farm kids category, in the photography contest.

The contest’s cutest animal category saw Erica Andrews and Zoie Haught, both of Springville, tie for first place.

The Springville-Griffith Institute High School band won for Division 1, during the festival parade. St. Aloysius Regional School’s float won Division 2 and the Collins Draft Horse, Ox and Pony Club won, for Division 3.

The name the calf contest was won by Hank Ellines of Eden, for the name “Spotty.”

A Springville participant won the name the goat contest, with the moniker “Tinker.”

Shopper signups for the Springville shopping spree came to town, from all over Western New York and from Bradford and Smethport, Pa.

Debbie Powell of West Valley won the spree’s grand prize of $1,000. Penny Bond of West Valley won $500.
