SPRINGVILLE — The Bank of Cattaraugus celebrated 130 years of doing business, with a reception and dinner held Sept. 2 at the Springville Country Club.
Bank CEO Patrick Cullen was also celebrating 30 years as the bank’s CEO, with an additional 11 years’ spent working for the bank, in other capacities. Cullen followed in the footsteps of his father, Edward Cullen, who served as a director or officer of the organization for a total of 46 years.
The Bank of Cattaraugus is one of the oldest banks in New York state and can trace its history back to its 1831 origins in Otto. It is also one of the oldest independent banks in the country.
The bank’s employees are all local. Many have been there as long, or longer, than Cullen, the board of directors’ members and officers.
