New barbershop to open in Springville

SPRINGVILLE — James Paul Nabozny, or JP, of the now-closed JP’s Barbershop, will be opening a barbershop on Main Street in Springville, this September.
“It will have a unique atmosphere,” said Nabozny, about the male-exclusive barbershop. “It will be a real guy place, comfortable, with a sports center and lots of sports memorabilia. It will be like a man-cave.”
Nabozny will also be offering straight razor shaves, a skill he learned from working at Burn’s Barbershop in West Seneca.
Nabozny got his cosmetology license as a senior at Springville-Griffith Institute High School, after his guidance counselor, who knew Nabozny was cutting all his friends’ hair in the gym locker room, suggested he participate in the program, in order to have enough credits to graduate. “I loved it,” said Nabozny, about the cosmetology program. “You should learn something every day, when you’re cutting hair.”
The barber did an apprenticeship, for three years, at Gary’s Barbershop and worked at Burn’s Barbershop for a year, but said he always knew he wanted to open his own shop again.
“I thought it was the end of the world,” said Nabozny, about JP’s Barbershop’s closing in 2011. “I am really excited to be stitched back into the community. I am excited to be back and I’m excited to show off the new me.”
After Sept. 3, his barbershop, which is not yet named, will be opened from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday – Friday and from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
