SPRINGVILLE — Several local churches will be observing the beginning of the Lenten season, by holding services to commemorate Ash Wednesday, Feb. 13.
Our Savior Lutheran Church, which is located at 431 Waverly St. in Springville, will host a soup supper at 5:30 p.m., followed by an Ash Wednesday service at 6:30.
Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, which is located at 83 West Main St. in Springville, will hold an Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m.
The First United Methodist Church, located at 474 East Main St. in Springville, will hold a communion service at 7 p.m., followed by a service of ashes.
St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church, which is located at 12820 Genesee Road in Sardinia, will hold Ash Wednesday services at 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.
St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, located on Boston Cross Road in the town of Boston, will host Ash Wednesday services at 6:30 and 9 a.m. and at 7 p.m.
St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, located at 190 Franklin St. in Springville, will hold Ash Wednesday Masses at 9 a.m. and at 7 p.m.
Several local churches are holding combined Lenten services at the First Presbyterian Church, located at 38 North Buffalo St. in Springville, beginning at noon on Feb. 13, with ashes and lunch. These services will continue every Wednesday, throughout the Lenten season, which will end on Holy Saturday, March 30.
