Fossil-astronomy day to be held at Penn Dixie

HAMBURG — A fossil astronomy program will be held on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 1 – 4 p.m. at Penn Dixie’s Paleontological and Outdoor Education Center in Hamburg.
Participants can search for fossils and keep all that they find.
In addition, filtered telescopes will be available to observe solar flares and sunspots. Experts will be on hand to identify fossils, minerals, rocks and more. Cub Scout Webelos can earn their geology badges and should register through their council headquarters.
Collectors may bring plastic buckets, garden shovels, hammers, chisels and safety glasses. Staff members and volunteers will be available to assist visitors in finding the fossil remains and help them to identify their finds.
The public is invited and no pre-registration is required. There is a fee for non-members.
