BUFFALO — Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs announced that the New York State Boater’s Guide is now available, through his office. The guidebook was made possible by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
The guide provides a summary of many laws, registration and training requirements, as well as safety information that governs recreational boating, within New York state.
“Just like there are ‘rules of the road’ for vehicles, there are ‘rules of the waterway,’ that govern the safe maneuvering of all watercrafts,” Jacobs said. “I encourage all recreational boaters to know the risks, learn the rules and be prepared, before taking the helm this boating season.”
The free Boater’s Safety Guide is available, by contacting the Erie County clerk’s office at 858-7754 or emailing ErieCountyClerkOffice@erie.gov
