EAST CONCORD — The grand opening of the newly-remodeled gift shop at Homespun Treasures took place Nov. 30, Dec. 1 and Dec. 2. It was the 27th anniversary of the Christmas open house.
Colleen Lux, the daughter of owner Susan Lux, said that the event started in August of this year.
“We completely remodeled the original shop. With mostly friends and family to help us, we did have a contractor assist us with the foundation and flooring. We also took down the original wooden wall sidings and installed new ones. The building’s foundation was supported on stilts, for several weeks. New doors and windows were also installed.”
TREASURES ABOUND — Homespun Treasures of East Concord sells primitive crafts and gifts, many of which were on display during the shop’s Christmas open house.
The Lux family said the new shop offers much more space than the original design and are thrilled with the new look. The Homespun Treasures Gift Shop was originally established in 1986.
“We are all happy this project is complete and we are ready to show off the new place, on this three-day event, as our customers have all been more than curious,” explained Colleen Lux.
Lux also works on the design of the shop’s primitive forms of jewelry, soy candles, earrings, bracelets and other Christmas charms.
“We try to feature new kinds of gifts, every year,” she said.
Refreshments and various door prizes were also featured, as part of the Christmas open house. Tea, cocoa, candy, cookies, cheese and pepperoni were served.
“This is our last big event of the year,” Lux explained. “The shop will be closing soon, for the winter months ahead, but we are planning to reopen again, in April of 2014. The gift shop originally opens in May – but now, with our new building having better insulation – we can open much earlier.”
The Homespun Treasures Gift Shop is located at 11952 Route 240 in East Concord. Call 592-3480, for more information.
