BUFFALO — The Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry has announced the implementation of a new, online reservation system for county parks shelters and campsites. The new system allows potential renters to check the availability of all facilities in the park before making a reservation, with an online payment.
“For decades, county residents have rented a shelter or site for the day, and now that’s easier than ever to do,” said Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz. “Our parks system can be enjoyed even more now, with the arrival of online reservations for park shelters and for campsites at Sprague Brook Park.”
Parks Commissioner Troy Schinzel added, “I would like to thank the County Division of Information and Support Services for working closely with my department to create this online reservation system, at no cost but with great benefits. Shelter information, rental rates and availability and reservation forms are now just a click away and will make the process much easier, for anyone wishing to reserve their spot.”
Electronic reservations are not final until payment is received and a permit is issued by the parks department. No exchanges or refunds will be given. Shelter reservations are made on a case-by-case basis, while campsites with electric hook-ups are available from April 1-Nov. 30 and those without electric are available April 1 – Columbus Day. All parks are open from 7 a.m.-dusk in the winter and 9 p.m. in the summer.
