Cattaraugus County Bank celebrates 110th anniversary

On Jan. 2, 1902, a newly-chartered Cattaraugus County Bank opened its doors to the public and began a career that has lasted for 110 years.

CCB is marking its yearlong 110th anniversary celebration in several ways.

CCB invited local second graders to place items in a CCB-provided time capsule, which will then be placed in the bank’s vault. In 2022 - when those students are seniors in high school - CCB will invite them back to open the time capsule and see how creative they were, how much fun they had and what may have been going on in their world at the beginning of 2012.

Display banners containing the history of CCB’s 11 decades of existence are being displayed in each CCB location lobby. The banners contain both CCB information and reminders of events in history outside the world of banking.

An anniversary loan special will run until Feb. 29. Both current and non-current customers may contact any loan officer for information.

“We are very happy to be able to say we’re here, we’re strong and we support our communities,” said CCB Senior Vice President Joni Simcick. “These first few activities are just the beginning of a yearlong birthday party. Many schools were receptive to our time capsule idea and we hope folks see our lenders about the loan special. It is quite a nice offer. We are also very proud of the big banner displays. I think visitors will find them interesting. I invite everyone to stop in, visit with our excellent employees and look for more events as 2012 passes. The CCB marketing team is busy talking about what else we’ll be doing to celebrate this important anniversary.”
