SPRINGVILLE ó The times, they are a-changing, here at the Journal. This week, we said farewell to Jessie Owen, our editor for the past two years, as I stepped into her shoes. Jessie has taken the helm at the Sun in Hamburg, and we wish her well, in her new adventure.
Meanwhile, Iíve moved my reporter notebooks, AP Stylebook, collection of colorful pens and whimsical cubicle ornaments one desk over, to take over as editor of your community newspaper.
Since I started working as the Journal staff reporter about two years ago, there have been many changes within our pages. Some of those have been small, such as fonts and photo sizes. Others have been larger and had a broader impact on our readers. One year ago, the Springville PennySaver and Journal merged into one, comprehensive paper that brings you news, features, sports, classified ads and local advertisements, all in one, convenient package.
Some things havenít changed since our paper started, and will remain the same, as long as weíre here.
Our correspondents are still out pounding the pavement, covering local events, business news and other happenings around town, every day of the week.
We excitedly shared your engagements, wedding announcements and important anniversaries and respectfully passed along notices for family and friends who have died. We also give you space to write letters on what matters to you and the community at large.
As editor, I strive to maintain the quality and integrity weíve worked hard to establish, at the Springville Journal. Objectivity and accuracy are important to us, and always carry the day.
As always, I welcome your continued comments, questions and concerns. My email address is email@example.com
and I can be reached by phone at 592-4550 ext. 24.
Please feel free to drop me a note, stop by and say hello or flag me down, as I continue to cover events, in and around your community. Iím excited to continue to offer you the local coverage you have come to expect from your local newspaper.
