Springville orchestra to ‘jazz’ up Valentine’s Swing Dance

SPRINGVILLE – The annual Valentine’s Day Swing Dance will be held at the Family Life Center at the First United Methodist Church, located at 474 East Main St. in Springville, on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 8-10 p.m.

The ‘40s theme dance will feature music by the Springville Jazz Orchestra, and will also feature a chocolate dessert contest.

The SJO will present music by 1940s musicians and band leaders, such as Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Billie Holliday. Solos will be performed by Judy Wright, Rebecca Roudebush, Charlie Harrigan and Dennis and David Sullivan.

In addition to live music and entertainment, chocolate desserts, coffee and punch will be served.

All proceeds will benefit the youth group at First United Methodist Church and Love in The Name of Christ of Springville.
