HEAP outreach hosted at Concord Town Hall

Erie County Legislator John Mills announced that a Home Energy Assistance Program outreach will be held Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the Concord Town Hall, located at 86 Franklin St. in Springville. Interviews will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. The doors will open at 8:30. All applicants will be interviewed.

HEAP is a federally-funded program, created to assist income-eligible Erie County residents with the costs of home heating, electricity and energy conservation. The HEAP outreach is open to all income-eligible households.

“HEAP outreaches provide eligible recipients with individual attention, to help with the process,” Mills said.

Applicants are asked to bring the following documentation to the outreach:

– Proof of gross income received within the last 30 days, for all household members. If paid weekly, residents must bring their last four pay stubs. If paid biweekly, bring the last two pay stubs.

Residents must bring any award letters, if applicable, including Social Security, pension, unemployment, workers compensation and disability. Residents must also bring yearly statements of interest received for savings, checking, money market accounts or other accounts, as well as dividend proof for stocks, bond securities or other earnings.

– Social Security numbers for all household members.

– One form of identification for each household member, such as a birth certificate or Social Security card, driver’s license or school identification card.

– Proof of residency, such as a rent receipt, mortgage statement or utility bill.

– Current heat and/or electric bill.

HEAP benefits are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligible households may receive one regular HEAP benefit per season, but may also be eligible for an emergency HEAP benefit, if they are close to running out of fuel or having their utility services discontinued. Applications for emergency HEAP benefits will be accepted, beginning Jan. 2.
