The Night Under the Stars fundraiser will take place at the playground and wooded grove at the Preschool Learning Center on July 26.
SPRINGVILLE—The third annual Night Under the Stars will once again offer adults a chance to relax, dance and enjoy the outdoors, sans kids. Sponsored by the Children’s League Board of Directors, the Night Under the Stars gala gives everyone a chance to experience the League’s playground at the Preschool Learning Center.
Taking place Saturday, July 26, the gala looks to raise money for the Preschool Learning Center and the programs it provides, including staff training, equipment and anything else the departments might need. In addition to the funds raised, the gala also looks to give parents a better understanding of what their children experience at the Children’s League.
Providing needed services from children with developmental, physical and multiple disabilities is important, but also expensive, according to Gerald Guild, a licensed psychologist and behavior specialist at the Preschool Learning Center.
The night takes place at the playground, which is one-of-a-kind and the only fully-accessible playground in Western New York. Built five years ago, the playground offers open access to the public with two play structures, a picnic grove, paths and gardens. The playground came at the combined effort of 150 volunteers who came together to erect it in one weekend.
Designed by a team of occupational workers and physical therapists, the playground helps students accomplish their therapeutic goals and includes ramps, platforms, stairs and other equipment.
Night Under the Stars will offer basket raffles, live music and refreshments for those in attendance. The silent auction will again be kept small, to offer a higher-quality and less overwhelming raffle. Julie’s Pizzeria of Springville will provide the food, beer and soft drinks.
Starting off the musical experience will be a trio of classical musicians delighting the crowd with soft, elegant music for the early part of the evening. Guitarists will then take the stage later to bring a more upbeat, danceable feeling to the night.
Night Under the Stars takes place on July 26 at the Children’s Preschool Learning Center, which is located at 393 North Street. For more information, or to purchase tickets, call 592-9331.
