SPRINGVILLE—Colden Elementary School recently received a donation of $1,270 from Emerling Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram through the Chrysler Drive for the Kids program held June 20 during their field day.
Drive for the Kids is a program started in 1993 that helps collect money for local schools through test-drives of their vehicles. During the event, for each test-drive of a Chrysler, a $10 contribution is made to the school.
“Drive for the Kids is a mutually beneficial program. We are pleased to support our local schools, and enjoy demonstrating a terrific, world class product,” said Tom Shanley, manager of the Northeast Business Center for Chrysler Group LLC in a press release. “Parents are genuinely interested in testing our 2014 Chrysler Town & Country minivan with all of the advanced safety, technology, and economy features, and we are happy to help raise extra dollars for the school. Drive for the Kids allows us the opportunity to work together for the kids and everyone has a great time.”
At the end of the entire 2014 Drive for the Kids program, the schools with the highest number of test-drives in 5 different regions; the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West, will each win an additional $5,000.
Since the program’s start, Drive for the Kids has raised over $5 million for schools all across the country.
