Zoar Valley Fest to be held May 11

GOWANDA — The Zoar Valley Fest will be held on Saturday, May 11, starting at 11 a.m. in Creekside Park, behind the Shop ‘n Save supermarket, along Cattaraugus Creek in Gowanda. The event was announced by the Gowanda Area Chamber of Commerce.
Exhibitors and vendors will be set up at the park, starting at 11 a.m. The department of conservation will provide a bass fishing demonstration and there will be a fish pond. There will be raft rides, noon – 3 p.m., leaving every half hour. Interested parties may pre-register at the chamber office, by calling 532-2834. There will also be hikes through Zoar Valley and canoe, kayak and raft races, starting at 4:30 p.m. Train rides will leave hourly, starting at 11 a.m. Train tickets will be available, at the depot.
There will also be horse and carriage rides to the gorge. Pre-register for the rides at www.mistryridgecarriage.com/index.html or call 532-5859. A rock-climbing wall and demonstrations, as well as rafting and kayaking movies will be shown at the Hollywood Theater. Food and refreshments will be available, at the park. Activities will move to the American Legion Post 409 in Gowanda at 6:30 p.m, when the Crouse 5K Challenge will begin. After the post-race awards and announcements, the Little Mountain Band, sponsored by the AMVETS Post 409, will provide music.
