Collins Public Library to hold computer classes AUG. 24 – 27

COLLINS — The Collins Public Library will offer computer training classes free of charge on the following dates.

Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.: eBooks and eReader: This workshop is designed as a hands-on introduction to downloading ebooks from the library’s website, for use on home computers and other personal electronic devices. The focus will be on the Nook™, Kindle and iPad. There will be a demonstration of the steps required to download and activate necessary software, along with tips to effectively search and browse the overdrive catalog. Students may bring their own reader devices.

Tuesday, Aug.27, from 2 – 4 p.m.: Computer Basics for someone new to computers. This class is designed for beginners. Learn how to use the mouse and keyboard. A review of the hardware and software will be discussed.

Tuesday, Aug. 27, from 5 – 7 p.m.: iPad Basics. Learn about the parts of the iPad, understand how to use the touch screen, settings and keyboard. The class will also teach how to download and use common applications.
