The Sardinia Historical Society will host the 175th Traveling Erie County Fair Ambassador program on Monday, June 2. The program will feature pictures and artifacts from the Erie County Fairs that have been held over the years.
The first fair was held in 1841 at Lafayette Square in Buffalo. The fair moved throughout various locations in Aurora, Lancaster, East Hamburgh (now Orchard Park), West Seneca and Springville from 1851-1867. In 1868, the fair found a permanent home in Hamburg.
This historical building at the fair will be hosting additional exhibits from the Erie County Fair and the James E. Strates Show.
The program will be held at the Sardinia Meeting House, located at 12070 Savage Road in Sardinia, and is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for tours of the museum. Hot dogs, ice cream and refreshments will be available.
The Traveling Fair Program will start at 7 p.m.
