Battle of the Brush Concord Bicentennial competition celebrated the hairiest of them all

CONCORD — The Brothers of the Brush Concord Bicentennial beard contest was held Aug. 30 in Fiddlers Green Park.

In attendance were George Decker, Ken Kittle and Pete Dell, who were alumni members of previous beard contests that had been held at prior centennial events.

WELL-GROOMED — Goatee winner Al Fleisler is pictured with Helen Brogan, who handed out the rewards.
Judges of the contest were Decker, Harry McCormick, Jessica Culver and Sondra Noto. Springville Area Chamber of Commerce Secretary and Concord Land Realty Broker Helen Brogan handed out awards to the various category winners.

Splitting the prize for the full beard competition were co-winners Kittle and Warren Hashagan.

Moustache winner Larry Balog
Al Fleisler took first place in the goatee category and Larry Balog took top honors in the moustache competition.

Most unusual beard winner Matthew Golabek
Matthew Golabek took first place in the most unusual beard category.
