WHAT HO? A FOE? — The Hawk Creek Wildlife Center’s medieval event will feature jousting.
SPRINGVILLE — Hawk Creek Wildlife Center will host a medieval event, complete with sword fights, jousting, flying birds and more.
The 26th annual Wild Renn Festival will be held from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on July 13 – 14 and 20 – 21. The weekends will be highlighted by Jarod Miller of Animal Exploration, the knights of Brothers in Arms Jousting and a flying bird show.
Participants may view Hawk Creek’s resident wildlife. Miller will share his collection of wild animals from around the world, during his daily shows.
Attendees may witness full-armored combat, as professional jousters duel on horseback, for their rights to the maidens of the land. Birds of prey will soar overhead, during the daily bird shows.
Highlanders will compete in feats of strength, during the second weekend. Children may also give that competition a try. They may receive a token, to begin their own dragon collections.
Hawk Creek’s medieval naturalists will interact with festival participants, offering up-close encounters with the animals. Attendees may also view a bald eagle.
A marketplace will feature many vendors. Kings, queens, jesters and peasants will entertain the audience.
This event is sponsored by Sonitrol, Carmina Wood Morris P.C., M&T Bank, Emedco, E&D Specialty Stands Inc., Urban Design and the Cosmetic Vein and Laser Center.
