SPRINGVILLE — Springville Center for the Arts and WSPQ 1330AM will present a live radio drama version of “It’s a Wonderful Life” on Dec. 20 and 21 at 8 p.m. Based on the film and timed for a pre-Chistmas holiday experience, this radio version, written by Anthony Palermo, involves a company of actors with live sound effects, performed onstage. George Bailey has spent his life giving of himself to the people of Bedford Falls. He has longed for other things, but worked to prevent miserly Mr. Potter from taking over the town. On Christmas Eve, George’s uncle misplaces their business’s $8,000, which sets of a chain of events threatening the town. Thinking the world will be better off without him, Bailey contemplates suicide. An angel named Clarence arrives to show him a world without his impact.
Mathew Boudreau, Monique Boudreau and Sophie Howes from Aural Studios led a workshop on the radio drama production process, during which actors have studied timing, voice acting, breathing and voice ranges.
The show stars Matt Boyle, Ed Heary, Kevin Kujawa, Wally Holland, Tim Musial, Pete Esser, Hank Duwe, Jeanne May, Claire Nelligan, Matilda Musial, Susan Sorensen, Claire Boyle, Hayden Wible, Dru Robinson, Mac Musial and Zack Martin.
