SPRINGVILLE — The Springville Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Bill Cocca, played jazz melodies and big band music on Thursday, Aug. 22, at the Concert in the Park, held at Fiddlers Green Park in Springville.
Cheryl Kearns of Hamburg, formerly of Springville, said this was the first concert in the park she had been to. Her son-in-law is in the jazz band, and she said that she likes to follow him, wherever that outfit happens to be performing, throughout the local area.
Elle Kirkendall of Springville said she likes them very well, and always enjoys the concerts, whenever she attends.
“I love [the concerts], especially this band, because of the way Bill Cocca has trained them. We’ve had wonderful teachers, in our music department,” said Helen Shearer, of Springville.
Next week, the Road Runners will perform oldies music, for the final concert of the season. The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. and will take place inside Concord Town Hall, in the event of inclement weather.
