SPRINGVILLE — The Erie County Legislature held a presentation on April 10 at Old County Hall to recognize Erie County Sheriff Deputies Brad Ballantyne and Jon Hanna for their response to an active shooter call in the town of Concord on March 16.
Deputies Hanna and Ballantyne were presented with a proclamation from Legislature Chairman John Mills and Majority Leader Joseph Lorigo, in recognition of their bravery, quick thinking and skilled response to the situation. The Legislature also honored Dispatchers Karin Gruber and Michael Graczyk for their role during the incident and for communicating critical information that allowed officers to properly respond.
“On behalf of the Erie County Legislature, it is an honor to recognize Deputy Ballantyne and Deputy Hanna for their professionalism in responding to an extremely dangerous call,” said Lorigo. “Erie County has one of the best sheriff’s offices in the state and I am extremely proud of the bravery and dedication these two deputies demonstrated. They put their lives at risk to bring the incident to a peaceful end, while protecting their colleagues.”
