SPRINGVILLE — The Springville-Griffith Institute music department has six students who were accepted to participate in Zone One Senior High Area All-State Festival ensembles. The festival, featuring grades 10-12, will be held at the State University of New York College at Fredonia on Nov. 22 and 23.

The students were selected as a result of their ratings at the New York State School Music Association solo festival in May. These honors ensembles include the highest-scoring senior high musicians in Western New York. The festival consists of a band, orchestra, string orchestra, mixed chorus and women’s chorus; each ensemble rehearses with a music teacher and conductor, and performs in a concert.

Students participating in Senior High Area All-State from the high school are Grace Flier, full orchestra; Lauren Manchester, band; Deborah Gil, string orchestra; Allison Stubblebine, chorus; Mitchell Brownell, chorus and Dan Rothman, band.
