SPRINGVILLE — The Springville-Griffith Institute music department has six students who performed in Zone One Junior High Area All-State Festival ensembles. The festival, which featured students in grades seven-nine, was held at Akron High School on Nov. 1 and 2.
The students were selected as a result of their ratings at the New York State School Music Association solo festival in May.
These honors ensembles included the highest-scoring junior high musicians in Western New York. The festival consisted of a band, a full orchestra and string orchestra, mixed chorus and women’s chorus.
Each ensemble rehearsed with a renowned music teacher and conductor and performed in a concert.
PLAY ON, BOYS — Two Springville Middle School students were selected to participate in all-state, Connor Judkiewicz and Liam Raiber.
Students from Springville Middle School who participated are Connor Judkiewicz, full orchestra, and Liam Raiber, string orchestra. Students from S-GI High School who participated are Marissa Folts, full orchestra; Isobel Hooker, in the full orchestra; Erin Jurkowski, in the band and Sadie Kirkham, in the full orchestra.
