National Scout Sunday was celebrated among the Springville Scouting troops on Feb. 5 at the Assembly of God Church in Springville.
This event recognizes the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting.
Pastor Stan Handzlik welcomed area Cub Scouts, Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts and encouraged them to continue to serve God and their communities. His service was entitled “Be prepared,” the Boy Scout motto, and was based on the story of David and Goliath.
He also recognized the youth leadership skills that the Scouting program has to offer.
The members of the Assembly of God youth group did a puppet show on the dangers of peer pressure.
Henry Yaeger, chaplain aide for Troop 524, helped organize the service. Jim Oatman spoke about how Scouting has influenced those who are involved.
Members of Boy Scout Troops 524 and 643, Cub Pack 642 and 59, along with the Girls Scouts of America, who are celebrating their 100th anniversary this year, joined to show their unity in the Springville community.
