MAKING NEW FRIENDS — The students are mixed up at different tables, working together with their new tablemates to answer questions during the “Are you Smarter Than a Fifth Grader” game that ran during their lunch period.
SPRINGVILLE — National Mix-It-Up Day was observed at Springville Middle School on Oct. 29, during all lunch periods. The event was sponsored by the Middle School Student Council and student services.
Mix-It-Up is a nationwide project supporting student efforts to identify, question and cross social boundaries, within their schools and communities. At the beginning of every lunch period, each student received a name tag with a number on it. They then sat at the lunch table with the corresponding number. An ongoing activity was provided, that engaged the students in conversation and helped them to make new social connections.
