Colden kids have breakfast with dad

COLDEN — On Oct. 22, Colden Elementary School hosted its first All Pro Dad’s Day Breakfast. There were 53 participants.

According to the founding organization, “All Pro Dad’s Day,” sponsored by National Football League veteran Tony Dungy, is a “simple idea with a profound impact.” The event is a one-hour monthly breakfast, held before school, where fathers and their children meet with other dads and kids in the school cafeteria or library media center. During this time, they may discuss a range of family topics, spend time together, create memories and are equipped with resources to strengthen their relationship.

The topic at the first breakfast was sharing. Students and dads watched a video of a boy who collected and shared more than 1,000 soccer balls with children in South Africa. Children and their fathers discussed ways they could share, within the Colden community.
