The Springville-Griffith Institute Middle School Musical Society will present “Fiddler on the Roof Jr.” on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. Performances will be held in the Lyle G. Palmer Auditorium at S-GI High School.
Take a trip back in time to the fictional Russian village of Anatevka at the turn of the century. Tevye converses with God, while struggling to balance the traditions and teachings of his Jewish heritage in a changing world. In this world, girls want to choose their own husbands, political tensions are rising and faith is tested, in both good times and bad.
The musical celebrates this balance, using the imagery of a fiddler on the roof, with songs including “If I Were A Rich Man,” “Matchmaker,” “Do You Love Me?” and “To Life, L’Chaim.”
The role of Tevye will be played by sixth grader Robert Clark. Julianna Kraft will portray his wife Golde, while Erin Jurkowski, Isobel Hooker, Mary Franklin, Anna Lawton and Elle Holland will be featured as their daughters.
Other supporting roles will be played by Zak Fedeson, Christopher Elkins, Mason Goodridge, Mallory Robel and Zack Martin. They will be joined by more than 40 middle school students in the roles of Jewish villagers, Russian soldiers, dancers, wedding celebrants and more.
Tickets may be purchased by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Order forms can also be picked up in the middle school’s main office.
