Red Ribbon Week launches contest

SPRINGVILLE — The National Family Partnership® has announced the national contest for its 28th annual Red Ribbon Week®, Oct. 23-31.

To enter to win $1,000 for a K-12 student’s school and an iPad for the home:

– Bring the Red Ribbon Week® message home, by working alongside parents to decorate front doors, mailboxes or fences with a red ribbon and this year’s theme, “A Healthy Me Is Drug Free™.”

– Take a photo with the family and a Red Ribbon Week® decoration, then upload to by Nov. 4. Students must be 18 or older to upload their photos.

Entering students should ask their family and friends to vote for their entry at Nov. 5-19.

Winners will be announced at on Dec. 6 and recognized at winning schools, throughout December.

“Students will once again take Red Ribbon Week’s message of prevention home to their neighborhoods with this national contest,” said the NFP’s Volunteer President Peggy Sapp. “By decorating their homes together with this year’s Red Ribbon theme, families carry the message to their communities.”
