BUFFALO — Author Jennifer Phillips Russo has invited student artists to participate in an artwork contest for her second book of “The Dragon Birthmark” series.
The contest opened on March 17. “The Dragon Birthmark” follows the story of an 11-year-old boy’s journey, through an adventure of legend and lore.
“‘The Dragon Birthmark: World in the Shadows’ is an entertaining, thought-provoking book, that takes the reader into the world of imagination and fantasy, through the eyes of an 11-year-old boy,” said Fredonia Elementary School Principal Amy Piper.
Russo, a Fredonia resident, is in the process of completing the sequel to “The Dragon Birthmark.” She has opened the contest to students, around the country. Contestants may sketch characters or scenes from the second book. The winning artwork will be published in the book. All middle and high school students are eligible to enter the contest.
Students may submit pieces through the novel’s website. An online gallery will let contestants see examples of other artwork.
A description of the characters, rules and entry guidelines may be found at www.thedragonbirthmark.com.
