SPRINGVILLE — Caralee Cecala, a senior biology major at Alfred University, received the Ralph E. Bennett and Judith C. Leondar Scholarship and the Diana Mossip Memorial Scholarship, during her school’s annual spring honors convocation.
The Leondar Scholarship is presented to a chemistry or biology student who achieves a high academic record. The scholarship is given in recognition of Leondar, a chemist, and in memory of her late husband, a botanist and microbiologist.
The Diana Mossip Memorial Scholarship was created by Mossip’s family and friends, as a tribute to her focus on community service. This scholarship is awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior who is pursuing a career in veterinary, dental or human medicine.
Cecala is a graduate of Springville-Griffith Institute High School. She is the daughter of Jeff and Rhonda Cecala of Springville.
