Springville-Griffith Institute students selected for All County Music Festival

SPRINGVILLE — Eleven students from Springville-Griffith Institute have been accepted into the Elementary All County Music Festival. This festival consists of fourth, fifth and sixth grade musicians in Erie County.
Two students were accepted into the all county orchestra, two were accepted into the band and seven students were accepted into the chorus.
The four instrumental students were accepted as a result of auditions held on Jan. 5. Vocal students were submitted, due to teachers’ recommendations. Rehearsals will begin March 2, culminating in a concert at Kleinhans Music Hall on March 9.
Twenty-five Springville students were accepted into the Junior High All County Music Festival, which consists of seventh, eighth and ninth grade musicians from Erie County.
The band accepted 10 students. Eleven students were accepted into the orchestra and four were accepted into the chorus.
Auditions for this festival were held in January. Rehearsals for junior high school students will begin on March 15, with a concert scheduled for March 16 at Lake Shore High School.
The Senior High All County auditions were held on Jan. 19. As a result of these auditions, 12 students were selected into the senior high all county music ensembles. Two students were accepted into the orchestra, three local students were chosen for the band and seven students sere accepted into the chorus.
The Senior High Music Festival will be held March 22 and 23 at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
