S-GI, CES school students picked for All-County festival

SPRINGVILLE — The Springville-Griffith Institute music department had 11 students who participated in the Erie Elementary All-County music festival on March 8.

The festival, sponsored by Erie County Music Educators Association, culminated in a concert performed at Kleinhans Music Hall. The festival consisted of a band, orchestra and chorus. Each ensemble rehearsed and performed with a music teacher and conductor.

These honors ensembles included the highest-scoring musicians in grades four-six in Erie County. Festival rehearsals were held at Kleinhans and at Sweet Home High School.

Students from the elementary schools who participated were Melanie Barry, Susan Overfield, Kali Newman, Campbell Brown, Gabby Kinderman, Eve Doherty, Miya Domes and Ben Sullivan, in chorus.

Students from the middle school who participated were Samantha Yetter in chorus, Maggie Roudebush in chorus and Christian Flier in orchestra.
