Aurora Waldorf School receives green award

WEST FALLS — Aurora Waldorf School in West Falls received the Captain Planet Green School Award for demonstrating environmental stewardship, helping to protect and preserve the planet and putting forth an effort to make the world a better place. The awards gala took place Friday, Dec. 7 at the Georgia Aquarium, where President Jimmy Carter and Sir Richard Branson were also recognized.

“We are honored that the work and learning that happens at our school, on a daily basis, is being celebrated at this level.” said Aurora Waldorf spokesperson Lisabeth Abt Pieters. “Students at Aurora Waldorf School are engaged in experiential learning that fosters their potential to be thoughtful, caring and active stewards of the Earth. The teachers lead students in daily practice of remembering these gifts with gratitude and in exercising care for how the Earth’s resources are used. This builds inner habits that prepare the children for being environmentalists on the deepest levels. “
