‘Twas the night before Christmas

Editor:

‘Twas the night before Christmas, the snow it was new

The village was sleeping at just after two

When out on East Main Street arose such a clatter

I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter

The electric lines, they popped as they sparked

And looked red and green and blue as they arched

The houses went dark, a complete loss of power

It was 4 degrees out, and dropping by hour

A comforting voice at the Springville dispatch

Sent help from nearby. They came in a flash

I knew at that moment I’d nothing to dread

And let thoughts of Christmas come back in my head

The truck it was yellow and flashed as they worked

On this cold repair they would rather have shirked

At just after four, they brought back the light

And Christmas to all, and to all a good night

I can’t help but think that, when came the dawn

They woke to find presents but held back a yawn

The folks who stepped up when those wires came down

Are reason one hundred we so love this town !
