Sportsmans’ show successful

CHECK IT OUT — S&S Taxidermy invited the community to a sportsman show on location on March 30. Photo submitted by Rick Manzone.

March 30th, 2013 was yet another successful day, for the local sportsmen and women.

We, at S&S Taxidermy and Archery Pro Shop, hosted our annual sportsmen show. It is a free event that entertains the representatives from Elite, Hoyt and Parker Crossbows, Hoot’s Furs, Antler Ice, Quaker Boy, HHA Sights, Savage Arms, General Welding, SCI, Erie County Trappers Association, Deer Search; and the Boy Scout Troop 524 provided delicious food and beverages, to keep our bellies happy.

Local archer enthusiasts were able to test fire all the 2013 bows and crossbows, to determine which one suited their needs. All the new Savage rifles were on display, for the customers to handle.

Real fur hats, gloves, mittens and collars were displayed and sold by Hoot’s Furs. EC Trappers helped youngsters identify the local fur bearers, in New York. Deer Search explained the importance of tracking wounded game recovery, during hunting seasons, and General Welding provided a “tracked wheelchair” demonstration, for those handicapped outdoors people.

The hit of the show is always the Big Buck Club scorers, that provided a free scoring opportunity for those of us successful enough to score that big buck or black bear. During our show, these seven volunteers spent the day scoring over 40 whitetail racks! Many smiles were seen, on the proud hunters that made the record books.

We would like to thank all of our customers, representatives and our local organizations, for making our 11th annual show a complete success.
