Thank you, Giving Tree sponsors!

Due to your care and generosity, 157-plus children have been helped with back-to-school needs, this year! We would like to thank you for your overwhelming support, that has made it possible to provide these children with new school clothes, shoes, backpacks and school supplies. Many individuals, businesses and community groups donated items, to make this possible.

Our backpack distribution day was held on the Day of Caring, Aug. 21. Employees from ITT-Endine Inc. and the Mentholatum Company volunteered for the day, distributing backpacks and well as cleaning, painting, fixing things, at our center.

We would like to specifically recognize two major donors for their corporate and employee donations to our backpack program. The Evans Agency employees, who adopted over one- third of our children, and ITT-Enidine Inc., who purchased a significant amount of school supplies.

Your donations made this mission possible. We could not begin to touch these lives, without your help.

One mother who came to pick up items for her four children couldn’t stop tears from flowing, when she realized that sponsors provided a new outfit for each of her children. She kept saying, “This is such a blessing, the kids are going to have Christmas tonight. I didn’t know how I was going to get them all new clothes and things for school.”

Another mom shared with us that her husband is fighting cancer and her single income just isn’t enough to provide for their six boys, ranging from preschool to middle school.

There were many tears of relief in parents’ eyes and smiles on children’s faces, throughout the day.

“I just thank God for what you do. Please never stop. You don’t even know the difference that you have made in our lives!”

Statements like this is what keeps us going.

There are many struggling families who live the Southern Tier region. Poverty doesn’t stop at the city line. Many here are the working poor. Each year, our organization helps to meet over 20,000 food, clothing and infant needs in the community.

Christmas Giving Tree update: We will continue reaching out to those who need it the most, throughout the holiday season. Please keep us in mind as you are out shopping.

Consider purchasing an extra coat, twin bed sheets, PJ’s, toy, game or gift card for a child.

To help fund our outreach efforts, our annual harvest festival will be held at the Springville Fire Hall Saturday, Oct. 26, 9 a.m.-5p.m. chicken BBQ, pie bake-off, basket auction, food samples, artisan/ craft show and more.

Community support is essential to our outreach work. We cannot exist without you. Donations and helping hands are always needed. Call 592-4455, to get involved. Like us on FB.

Thank you again. We count you as a blessing.
