Community bands together to help one of its own

An amazing benefit was organized by Kristen Pratt, on Oct. 28th, to raise money for the co-pays and other expenses related to the rare adrenal cancer I have.
So many businesses and churches in Springville and Gowanda, as well as many bowling centers throughout Western New York, donated money, gift certificates, tickets, food, bowling balls, original artwork, autographed footballs, etc. You name it, it was there! People have been so generous with their time and talents.
Debi Anderson and an amazing kitchen crew fed well over 500 people with spaghetti and meatballs. Tim and Bonnie’s Pizzeria contributed 20 sheet pizzas to help feed the hungry masses. Barb Wilkins and Lynda Weber oversaw an abundant bake sale. Sarah Gabel from Jessie’s Toy Box in Gowanda worked hard to make the community aware of the event.
Mark and Jessica Lawton and Mary Villa made sure all the children attending had a great time with games and prizes. Pam Mescall led a team of wonderful women, who wrapped baskets tirelessly. Wayne Lindquist led the large setup and cleanup crew. Melissa Wojcinski, Tara Davies, Joelle Marshall, Tom and Sherrie Bennett, Tim Lamphier, Randy Pratt, Darcy Jermain, Jen Shearer, Becky Walczyk, Mary Farner, Gerry Hashagen, Nancy Hackamer and so many others came together to make this an event we will never forget.
Thanks to their hard work and the people who attended, we were able to go to Michigan to see the only specialist in the country who researches adrenal cancer. We are praying that God will give him wisdom and he will be able to help.
There is no cure for adrenal cancer and many questions about treatment, but, thanks to the generosity of our friends, family, the Springville Lanes family, the Gowanda Assembly of God family and the community, we have less financial worries.
God is so good! Romans 10:13.
