Allison Duwe for local board

We are so fortunate to have a great candidate for school board, this year.
My family and I are grateful for the opportunity to vote for Allison Duwe. Allison has been a prominent member of the community, in her work with Springville Center for the Arts and she has also made an impact, at the state level, with her work for other nonprofit organizations.
Imagine seeing Allison’s strong work ethic and sincere love of S-GI at work on our school board. Exciting!
Rural schools in New York state are having a particularly difficult time financially, in recent years. Once again, this year, we must think long and hard about our priorities. Last year saw significant cuts in our art and music programs that have traditionally been a source of community and school pride.
We have seen the high school band director go from full-time to sharing his time with the middle school; this at the expense of lessons and some ensembles. Fine arts have been severely slashed, as well.
With no end in sight for difficult financial times for S-GI, we need to establish priorities now, as programs that are cut are not likely to be restored. Allison references this clearly in her platform: “Art and music are not ‘extras.’ Students and schools succeed, when the arts are emphasized.”
Please take a look at Allison’s vision for our district’s future. I think you will find it extremely well thought out and specific.

On May 21, S-GI voters have an important choice to make; one that will help to set the direction of our district, for years to come.
Vote for Allison Duwe, to ensure the future of S-GI.
