Springville Journal letter to the editor: Springville Youth Little League off to a great start
Monday June 3, 2013 | By:Springville Little League base |
The board of directors for SYI Springville Little League baseball and softball would like to express our deepest gratitude to several people and organizations, for helping to make our annual opening day ceremonies a huge success, on Saturday, May 18.
Without the support of the town of Concord, none of this would have been possible. We wish to especially thank Supervisor Gary Eppolito and Parks Superintendent Paul Salzler, along with the town employees who help maintain the park and ensure that we have a beautiful facility to call home, at Concord Community Park.
When we host teams from other local communities, we are constantly complimented on the beauty of our diamonds and the park itself.
We also depend on the financial support from the town of Concord and the village of Springville, to keep baseball and softball affordable to all children in our area, by funding SYI.
A special thank you needs to go out to the SYI Board, who has been supportive of our efforts to expand and improve our league, year after year. Of course, we couldnít even have the program without the involvement of all our players and their families.
Thank you, to all of the businesses that sponsor our 40 house and travel baseball and softball teams, purchase banners and ads and provide donations for our program. There are too many to mention every business by name, in this brief letter, but our families know who you are and are deeply grateful for your support. Without these businesses, we could never fulfill our mission.
The Little League program assists children in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, the Little League baseball and softball program is designed to develop superior citizens, rather than superior athletes.
Finally, we would like to extend an invitation to the entire community, to come enjoy a day or evening at the park, watching the children play baseball and softball. You donít need to have children in the program. All are welcome!
We have games nearly every day of the week, ranging from T-ball to high school. Weeknight games begin at 6 p.m. and Saturday games begin at 10 a.m. There are also several Sunday afternoon games, throughout June and July. Our snack stand is open, for every game.
So, if you want a night off from cooking, let us do it for you!
