New handbook procedures for S-GI families

Editor:

In response to some of the cost savings suggestions received from our parents and community members, we are trying something new, with regard to the yearly distribution of the Parent Student Handbook.

Typically in the past, each family or student in each school building would receive a handbook, leading to multiple copies in some households. This year, we are providing parents and students with access to the handbook via the district website.

The district will still require (a) the signed acknowledgement that you and each student in your household have read the contents of the handbook, along with (b) a signed student image and student work consent form, for each student in your household. However, those forms may now be transmitted to the district electronically, rather than returning hard copies to the main offices of the school buildings. Should you desire, you may also request electronically the 48-hour prior notification of a pesticide application.

Please visit our website at www.springvillegi.org, and click on the “Parent and Student Handbook” link on the left-hand side of the main page, to access the 2013-14 handbook, along with the links to submit electronically the acknowledgement form, student image consent form and pesticide application notification form.

Please be advised that if the school does not receive an electronically signed acknowledgement of receipt for the parent and student handbook, by Sept. 27th, follow-up communication will be made to you by your student(s)’ school(s).

You may still request a hard copy of the handbook by selecting the link provided, or by emailing or calling the main office of the school your child(ren) attend, as follows. A handbook will be sent home with your child(ren).

We look forward to continuing to find ways to improve and streamline our services to our students, staff and community. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact my office at 592-3230.
