Allison Duwe will make great school board member

Allison Duwe is running for the school board on Tuesday, May 21 and I am going to cast my vote for her.
Iíve known Allison and her family for many, many years and have had the chance to know her, as a loving, responsible mother, a community volunteer and a smart leader. When I was on the board of Springville Center for the Arts, Allison served as president. I trust her judgment. She kept us focused on the big picture and today, the art center is flourishing.
A thriving school must serve all students, especially those that are facing tough issues, outside of school. Last year, the board of education eliminated 40 teaching staff, with the biggest hit to the arts. I attended meetings and spoke out, as did lots of others. High-stakes tests and a decreased focus on broad class offerings is a recipe for failure, for many students. Allison will listen and seek collaborative, creative solutions.
Whether you have kids in the district or not, vote! Your grandchildren will thank you. Your nieces and nephews will thank you. Your neighbors will thank you. As a grandmother, I feel a responsibility to make sure my grandchildren receive the best education. If you believe in this community and this school district, please vote for Allison Duwe, on May 21.
