To all the community members, friends, relatives, alumni, staff and more who had it in their hearts to help St. Aloysius Regional School this year, thank you! The school has been around for more than 130 years because of such generosity.
This year, the school held its first Big Money Raffle, with a grand prize of $10,000. There were three early bird drawings ($250 each) awarded in the months leading up to the main event. On May 17, the 49 prizes (as listed on the ticket – ranging from $100 to $10,000) were announced and followed by winners of a 50/50, theme basket auction and TV raffle. The event was held at the Springville Fire Hall. The weather was cooperative, for the most part. The crowd was pleasant and generous, the food was yummy and plentiful, the DJ and volunteers that helped make it all happen were priceless!
In addition to those who purchased tickets for a chance at winning the big bucks, a good number of tickets were purchased in the name of the school. Thank you!

Event supporters, donors and sponsors – specific supporter and donor names, I do not have – know that what you do for this school means everything.
The team of people who made this event happen (coordinated by Sue Jozwiak) is the true reason for its success. This was a learning experience for many of us. Sometimes I found it hard to stay focused when seeds of doubt were planted, seemingly unreasonable expectations were given, apparent lack of support was shown within and unnecessary drama – for lack of a better word – presented itself. We all have our reasons for doing what we do. Whatever your reasons were for helping us out, thank you for doing so!
If you were not at the event (need not be present to win) and would like a list of winners, you can open the link at the school website: www.staloysiusregional.com or call the school at 592-7002 to request a list of winners. Congratulations to all the winners. Although I’m not on the list, I still feel like a winner because: 1. I helped sell tickets and one of them did win! 2. I had an opportunity (as a parent) to speak with numerous people about the school, its events and future. 3. the success of the event has allowed a choice for Catholic education to remain in our community.
