Dream Katchers appreciates help given at fundraiser

We are almost halfway through 2013. This year’s spring fundraiser was successful and plans are underway for our fifth year, in 2014.

Thank you to all our volunteers, to Joe and his great staff at Michael’s, Terry Buchwald, for once again putting on a wonderful show (along with his crew). A huge thank you to Martha Dubay, for an absolutely beautiful Elvis theme quilt. To Megan and Paul, from Lady Princess Photography, for taking photos. Our great Dream Katcher staff shirts created by Regal Embroidery, thanks Karen. For donations – Karen Schunk, Kim Crane, JP Fitzgerald’s, Sky Zone, Niagara Chocolates, Mighty Taco, Outback, Emerling Chevrolet and Concord Crest.

We continue to look for teens to join our newly formed group. Bring your friends, meet new friends and have fun. Contact if interested.

In May, we can be found at the World’s Largest Yard Sale at the Fairgrounds, Developmental Disabilities Day at Niagara Falls Convention Center, then in June, the Dairy Fest. While at these events, except DD day, we will be selling our cookbooks, silicone bracelets, Niagara Chocolate bars, suckers and raffle tickets.

Our fall fundraiser, this year, will be at the town hall, Oct. 12, music by the Midnight Riders and will include auction items, 50/50, purchase and the drawing for our special raffle. These raffle tickets go on sale in May. Only 200 will be sold. They are $20 each. First prize is $1,000, second prize is $300 and third prize is $200. Make sure you get your ticket. You can’t win it, if you aren’t in it.

We will also be selling the special raffle tickets, to be drawn at next year’s Evening with “Elvis” Show, on April 4, 2014. Tickets are one for $1 or six for $5. First prize is dinner and night for two at Russell’s Steaks*Chops and More, second prize is cash/lottery basket, $100 cash and $100 in tickets, and third prize is a GPS.

Dream Katchers is very hopeful that our community will reach out and get involved. You ask how? Come to our fundraisers and show support. You can volunteer, possibly at monthly dances, fundraiser, meetings and more, donate used cars, glue sticks, card stock, crafts, items for theme baskets, gift cards and more. You may have a talent, skill, service, business – please consider donating; every little bit helps.

We continue to have a long-term goal of having our own facility, knowing this will take many steps. We would appreciate our community joining us, on this journey. The individuals we serve look forward to the times they can get together. We would like to be able to offer more than we currently are able. We offer recreation/socialization time for individuals with physical, mental and developmental challenges. If you know of someone who may enjoy some of these events, please pass along contact informtion to them. We can be followed on facebook, Our web page is and our email is
