BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME — Pictured, from left: Mike Fullington, J.P. Oatman, Deny Dains and Jim Jozwiak. Photos submitted by Michelle Oatman.
My name is J.P. Oatman and I would like to thank everyone that helped with my Eagle Scout project last week, which was to build a new shelter, to replace three deteriorated ones, at the old 219 rest stop.
I would first like to thank Deny Dains, Jim Jozwiak and Mike Fullington, for their expertise, guidance, time and patience. I also need to acknowledge the assistance of Erie County Legislator John Mills and Joe Wolniewicz from Troop 524.
Special thanks to the Springville Lions, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kiwanis, the American Legion, Springville Fire Department, field and stream and for several personal monetary donations.
JOB WELL DONE — The new shelter, built as an Eagle Scout Project, at the former Route 219 rest stop, replaced three deteriorating structures.
After almost a year of planning, fundraising, donations of time, equipment and support from family, friends and community, I am proud to say the shelter is finally complete and nicer than imagined.
Huge thanks to all of the parents and Scouts that turned out to help, in any way. If you have not already seen the shelter, it is on Cascade Drive (old Route 219), just past the Springville Country Club. Please take a moment to stop by and enjoy.
