Tamraz is a tough opponent and a great coach

Editor:

I am writing this letter in support of Ron Tamraz as the Springville varsity baseball coach. I have been the varsity baseball coach at Pioneer Central School for the past 16 years. In the majority of those years I have competed against Ron and his Springville Griffins. Not only does Coach Tamraz always have his team ready to compete at a high level, but they also compete with class.

Last year there was a very unique situation that occurred that illustrated the class that Coach Tamraz has ingrained into his players. The regular season had ended with Springville not completing their schedule, to no fault of their own. They had beaten us twice and had one less lose and one less win. As a competitions committee was scheduled to meet to determine how the league championship would be awarded we inevitably met in the sectional playoffs. I told my players there was a good chance there may be some animosity as undoubtedly the Springville team would be ready to make a statement and may be abrasive in doing so. Springville beat us for a third time and not one negative word was uttered by player, coach or fan. I was truly impressed by the Springville coach, players and fans. I also received many comments from my parents regarding the maturity and respect the Springville players exhibited.

As far as competency as a coach goes, Coach Tamraz, in my opinion, is the hardest coach in our league to compete against. We were 15 -5 last year with three of our losses coming to Springville. I have watched this group of players develop with Coach Tamraz since the current seniors were freshmen. He has brought them along at the perfect pace. In my opinion this team is poised to be one of the best teams in Western New York in 2015.

Coach Tamraz is an essential part of that team. This is obviously not a self serving recommendation as I truly believe regardless of who the replacement may be the team would not be as strong.

I had reservations about submitting this letter in that I may be overstepping my boundaries. I would not have done so unless I respected this team, their parents and the coach who has developed them into what they are. In my humble opinion this is Coach Tís team. Thank you so much for your time.
