Springville Journal letter to the editor: The WNY Dairy Festival went off without a hitch
Wednesday June 12, 2013 | By:Joan Taylor |
Another WNY Dairy/Ag Festival has come and gone. Many more good memories added to the list. It is like a Western New York reunion or family get-together; so many people from so many towns.
It’s not perfect; times change, farming has changed, but our prime concern, when we started, and has continued over the past 25 years, is to make people aware and appreciative of this country, state of New York and Western New York, that farmers are important. No farms, no food!
The weekend’s weather was questionable, but apparently enough WNY folks prayed, long and hard, to convince the good Lord that May 31, June 1 and 2 had to have good weather to survive. Thank you God.
Survive it did. Lots of wonderful comments, lots of visitors, from all over WNY, from Lockport to Olean and Jamestown, including NYS Sen. Patrick Gallivan, NYS Assemblyman David DiPietro, Erie County Legislators John Mills and Joe Lorigo and Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz.
Thank you, to the many, many devoted workers, the town, village and chamber, Metro Group and Faith Baptist members, for standing solidly behind us, over the years. Thank you sponsors from area businesses to personal donations; you made it happen. Thank you, appreciative vendors and demonstrators, participants of various contests (see list of winners, with photos, in this week’s Journal), from rides to music, food variety, new events and including the miracle of fireworks, immediately after the heaviest rain storm we’ve ever seen, in this area. It still all came together.
Thank you, Springville and all Western New York, for making this year’s 25th WNY Dairy/Ag Festival a wonderful and successful event.
God Bless all of you.
