Springville's Community Education Foundation thanks community

The Springville-Griffith Community Education Foundation would like to thank the sponsors, volunteers and guests who turned out for a steak dinner at Papa Jake’s, at the end of August.

Earlier this year, the foundation reached out to S-GI athletic teams for ideas of projects or equipment to fund.

The football program’s coaching staff stepped up to the challenge, suggesting software for tracking and analyzing games and statistics (Hudl) and a set of warm-up uniforms for use on game days and for travel.

Thanks to the support and help of the following community members, the event on Aug. 29 was a complete success, raising funds in excess of the amount needed to cover the purchase of the software and the warm-up uniforms.

A special thank you to Lamb & Webster, Springville Health and Fitness, S&S Taxidermy, John and Crystal Sopko and a community member for raffle items; to the staff of Papa Jake’s for handling the capacity-crowd for the evening; to foundation volunteers and friends who handled ticket sales and logistics for the event and to the over 200 guests who shared in the evening’s festivities.

A very special thanks to the football players, who attended the dinner wearing their new, bright “GI purple” warm-up suits; coaching staff and parents and fans, who helped to showcase the team, just before its season kicked off.

We are looking forward to our annual silent auction and wine tasting on Saturday, Nov. 10 and hope to see many of the same faces, as we work to exceed our goal of $30,000 – $15,000 each, for the Springville Boys and Girls Club and Springville Youth Incorporated.
